Goals of Women in Science

OUR GOAL is to educate girls about career opportunities in science and math by connecting them with professional women that have successful careers in those areas.

We want the students to become familiar with these areas early on. Students at the Women in Science event attend presentations on a variety of technical career areas, and they hear from professionals who overcame obstacles to find career and life success.

During this event, all the students have time to explore in a large exhibit hall where they can ‘try out’ several careers via hands-on activities, and talk with college and technical school representatives.

We want students to pursue rigorous coursework in high school without unknowingly limiting their future career choices, and our Women in Science event helps them gain the confidence to step into challenging math and science classes!
