Goals of Women in Science

Our goal is to educate girls about career opportunities in science by connecting them with professional women that have successful careers in those areas.

We want the students to become familiar with these areas early on. Students at the Women in Science event attend workshops on a variety of science/technical career areas, and they hear from mentors who overcame obstacles to find career and life success.

Also during this event, the girls are able to spend time in a large exhibit hall where they can ‘try out’ several careers via hands-on activities, and talk with college/technical school representatives.

We also want to encourage students to take rigorous coursework in high school, so that they don’t unknowingly limit their career choices later in life.
